Gumboot Day

Gumboot Friday/ Mental Health

Hey Blogger today I’m going to be talking about Gumboot Friday and Mental Health. Last week on Friday it was Gumboot Friday. The reason why it is called Gumboot Friday because a lot of people sometimes have negative feelings or even good feelings. It is also called Gumboot Friday because its like your in your Gumboots stuck in mud that is full of negative feelings.

Gumboot Friday is also when people are encouraged to try and wear Gumboots for the day so they can try feel how people live with negative feelings. Mental health is when someone is feel a good or negative feeling. New Zealand was aiming to raise money and support it. On Gumboot Friday last week the Teachers in the senior syndicate wore Gumboots. We wrote positive and uplifting comments on cards. The idea came from Healthy Puketapapa Student Questionnaire. A girl in our syndicate (Neeve) came up with idea to post the cards in letterboxes. This links  to our inquiry topic (Hauora-Wellbeing) because if you don’t have any Well being then you will have negative feelings. I think Gumboot Friday is a great idea because a lot of people have negative feeling and while there is negative feelings in them they sometimes will make the wrong decision. So if you make a positive and uplifting comment then they will start to have good feelings. People also should have the right to feel however they want but when they have a negative feeling in them then we could step up and help them.  Id you got a card in your post box maybe once you feel better or if you are okay then you maybe you can put it in another persons post box and maybe that will make there day.
